Wreck in Review

Have you ever had a week where you repeatedly asked "What the???" Where a series of things that should conservatively be sprinkled over the course of a few months [a manageable touch of calamity for the ordinary person] just keep happening back to back

he's done his job this week
This past week was the most bizarre collection of events. Such that I decided to pull out my little coping toy to help. This is my "dammit doll". I received it as a Christmas gift years ago (I asked for one because I thought they were cute). Funny thing- I've since discovered that I'm better at handling mishaps than I realized. I've rarely used it. Never felt angry enough, even though life has NOT been without its hard things.

This week, however, was this guy's time to shine. The dust is settling now, and I'm catching my breath, but the relentless course of wild events for my loved ones and myself definitely kept us on our toes! While I won't go into great detail, the "highlights" included the following. One loved one had a car battery die, and had to borrow another's car at the same time another developed pneumonia in one lung and had to be admitted to the hospital. The borrowed car ended up with a screw in the tire, which was actually a good thing. It led to an alert that the tire could not be replaced because it was actually on the verge of exploding 😬😬😬.

I'm just an auntie, but elders and children were needing to be ferried back and forth, meals arranged, and plans changed. All while attempting to maintain work obligations and keep a commissioned order on track. Not to mention getting sick myself. I barely had the strength to slam the doll. There's more, but I think I'll stop here. Let's just say that by the end of the week I was ready to find the nearest desert island and hide. No sense in rehashing it though, or worrying what might happen next.

As Carrie told Charlotte in the first "Sex and the City" movie when Charlotte was waiting for the other shoe to drop, "Sweetie, you sh@* your pants this year. Maybe you're done."

I realize I have loads to be thankful for, including [and especially] my family. But maybe a week like the last one comes along once in a while to shake you up, to remind you to be thankful for the not-so-crazy times. And I am!

P.S. You can find a doll like mine by clicking the picture. It has an affiliate link to Amazon.
