Timeless Telephony

It is Saturday night, and I am happily holed up in my studio catching up on some things that went off the rails as I spent much of this week focused on customer orders and other priorities.

But I missed my weekly Tuesday post here (who am I kidding- I often miss it). And I hate missing it because I've got oodles in draft mode just waiting...

Just for my own satisfaction I am going to slide in here in the few remaining moments of this busy week to share a quick post of [I think] great interest.

Over the last decade or two, or practically since the first one I owned, I have held onto my old cell phones. For a few reasons, I've kept the devices that have kept me connected through the years. And every so often, I remember them and pull them out to marvel over them.

A caveat: missing from the lot is my very first cellphone, the well-known Nokia block

that many people owned. Also not shown is the phone I used before my current Samsung, a Note 8. It's not shown because it's still in regular use, as a device for backup storage and to play relaxing background sounds at night. Fun fact: I was able to charge a few and was surprised to find that some still powered on!

my Razr was once cutting edge, lol

To answer the obvious, yes, there are only a few here because I keep my phones for years before upgrading. Also note: not a cracked screen in sight, lol. Actually, the screen on the Note 8 is cracked, but one out of all is not bad.

Prior even to the Nokia, was the ever-popular clear pager. And before that was my transparent purple landline VTech phone

A MUST have. Sadly, I do not still have those.

I'm glad I held onto the ones I did, because I enjoy breaking them out, playing with them, and thinking about the memories attached.

What was your first cell phone?
